017 | Trenarren House - Sauna

The client came to me with a layout of a sauna he wanted to build. He had clearly spent a lot of time enjoying sauna and he had a very clear concept of the layout he wanted from the sauna.

I came on board to design the structure that would make his simple 2D floor plan, a real world 3D reality.

I consulted on all of the technical performance elements, insulation, membranes and their correct application, and the roof and its structure.

Unfortunately due to other commitments I only managed a single day on site on the tools.

The client concluded the project without me, choosing the interior and exterior cladding, the roof finish, the interior design, and the fixtures and fittings.

And it has all come together beautifully.One of the first users of the sauna once it was finished was the lovely Emma O Kelly who felt moved to add it in to her book. Wild Sauna - The Best Outdoor Saunas in Britain. Which was nice.
